Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
